                    song: Venice queen

Artist: Red hot chili peppers

This song is the last track on the by the way album but in my books it's

probably one of the best.

Right this is my first crack at this, so sorry if it's crap.

Intro

this is the intro and the main guitar part right up until the song stops at

the first big break.

This part is finger picking around a 7th fret e minor shape:

1--7--

2--8--

3--9--

4--9--

5--7--

6--7--

1-----7--------7-------7-------7-------------

2----------------------------------------8--7

3---9-------9-------9--------9-------9------- do this 3 times

4-9-------9-------9--------9-------9---------

5--------------------------------------------

6--------------------------------------------

on the fourth time do this

1-----7--------7-------7-------7--------7-----

2---------------------------------------------

3---9-------9-------9--------9-------9-------9

4-9-------9-------9--------9-------9---------- then go straight into..

5---------------------------------------------

6---------------------------------------------

..This chord sequence, the rythm to this is quite a hard one to write

down so best to play along to the CD

1----------------------------7-7--7-7---7-7--7-7---7-7- Back to the

2----------------------------7-7--7-7---7-7--7-7---7-7- finger picking

3-9-9--9-9---9-9--9-9---9-9--7-7--7-7---7-7--7-7---7-7- from the intro.

4-9-9--9-9---9-9--9-9---9-9--9-9--9-9---9-9--9-9---9-9-

5-7-7--7-7---7-7--7-7---7-7--7-7--7-7---7-7--7-7---7-7-

6------------------------------------------------------

Right that's more or less the first part of the song,

it just repaets that until the big gap when it changes to this:

Again check the CD for the rythm cos it's a bit trick to write down.

  e min       D

1-0-0--0-0---2-2-2

2-0-0--0-0---3-3-3

3-0-0--0-0---2-2-2

4-2-2--2-2---0-0-0

5-2-2--2-2--------

6-0-0--0-0--------

The song just cycles through these chords until it gets to the sort

of key change and the song starts to sound a lot brighter.

this is where all of the backing vocal harmonies come in and the

melody changes. I'll put some lyrics in just in case you can't

understand my ramblings.

 **********************************************************************

*again complicated rythm so check out the cd, i've just put the names*

*of the chords in at the point they change in the song               *

 **********************************************************************

  A                               G

1-5-------------------------------3------------------------------

2-5-------------------------------3------------------------------

3-6-------------------------------4------------------------------

4-7-------------------------------5------------------------------

5-7-------------------------------5------------------------------

6-5-------------------------------3------------------------------

I know you said you don't believe  in god do you still disagree

  F                                  D

1-1----------------------------------5----------------------

2-1----------------------------------7----------------------

3-2----------------------------------7----------------------

4-3----------------------------------7----------------------

5-3----------------------------------5----------------------

6-1----------------------------------5----------------------

  Now that it's time for you to leave g . l . o . r . i . a

Next the whole A, G, F, D chord sequence runs through another 7 times

(thats 8 in total)

all the changes are in the same places but just with different

lyrics over the top, so just jam with the CD

I've not worked out the little bits of guitar fills yet but when

I do I'll post em

this is a great song so have fun

any corrections etc just let me know at shez@prontomail.com
